The Luxembourg association La Voix des Survivant(e)s (LVDS \u2013 The Voice of Survivors) is calling for a rally on 2 July from 9:45 to 10:30 in front of the Chamber of Deputies, inviting anyone who wishes to show support for its “Reform Proposals to Combat Gender-Based Violence and Its Impact on Child Co-Victims”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The public debate, following the success of the association’s\u00a0petition No. 3409, will take place at\u00a010:30 AM\u00a0in the presence of members of Parliament as well as\u00a0the Minister of Justice, Elisabeth Margue,\u00a0and\u00a0the Minister for Gender Equality and Diversity, Yuriko Backes. It will be broadcast live on the Chamber\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reminder of the petition\u2019s rationale:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The proposals put forward by La Voix des Survivant(e)s aim to improve the prevention of gender-based violence, end perceived impunity, and strengthen protection for victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The goal is to address the systemic failures we have witnessed or experienced ourselves. This text, developed by volunteer members of our association, should be a major contribution to the National Action Plan against Gender-Based Violence. Victims \u2014 those directly affected \u2014 must be heard in order to build an effective new framework for preventing violence and supporting survivors in their recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The statistics highlight the scale of the issue. According to the STATEC, the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies of Luxembourg, 20% of women and 17% of men in Luxembourg were victims of physical, psychological, and\/or sexual violence in 2020. One in three complaints was dismissed. 30,000 women in Luxembourg have been victims of rape or attempted rape in their lifetime.
